Day of the Marine Ball.  The designer of my dress also does hair and makeup so I said, sure, why not. I scheduled her to come to my hotel room and left enough time to re-wash my hair and face if need be. My friend Michelle would gets hers done, too.

Besides, I only wanted a blowout, leaving my hair down. How much could she screw that up?

Nyet, nyet. I tried to indicate I wanted my hair down but she looked so disappointed . So hey, I just let her go for it. What the heck, when in Rome…or Georgia. So, they

hair and makeup’d away. Note the girl on the right with my Georgian-English dictionary acting as translator. 

Yes, I got some elaborate hair, but artistic and quite pretty.

And yes, by the end of the (very late) night, I was ready to rip it all out.

I’m a big fan of this book about makeup, makeovers and a teen saving her family business. And an aside, out the hotel window you can see the snow-capped peaks of the huge mountain that borders Russia. It’s higher than the Alps.
